Most state and provincial agencies use the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE®) to evaluate the competency of entry-level veterinary technicians and require a passing score for a veterinary technician to be credentialed.

Third Party Exam Center
The VTNE is administered during three exam windows each year. The exam is computer-based and is given at PSI testing centers
external site throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Advanced
The certification has an education level of an Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree or higher and has a work experience requirement of more than 2 years, or requires obtaining a ‘core’ level certification from the same organization.
