DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Certified Public Accountant deals with various types of clients. They may audit or compile financial statements, specialize in tax planning and income tax return preparation, and provide management services. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Personal requirements: 1) Be at least 18 years of age. 2) Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. Professional requirements: Submit 3 "Certificate of Competence" forms completed by responsible persons who are personally or professionally acquainted with you and will attest to your competence, trustworthiness, and fairness. Experience requirements: 1,500 chargeable hours in performance of audits or 2 years of professional experience. Education requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting from a board-acceptable college or university, or equivalent as acceptable to the board. EXAMINATIONS: Uniform CPA exam. FEES: In 2022, pay $215 (application $25, license $64, Compliance resolution fund $100, ½ renewal for 2nd year of 2-year license $26). In 2023, pay $139 (application $25, license $64, Compliance resolution fund $50). OTHER: There were 1,883 licenses currently active as of February 24, 2022. ~ revised 10/16
