DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares radio pharmaceuticals which are given to patients by mouth, injection, or other means to diagnose diseases. They use special cameras and other laboratory equipment that detect and map the drug in the patient's body to create an image. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Education and experience requirement: School or training program accredited by the Radiologic Technology Board. Professional requirements: Be registered in good standing with the American Board of Radiologic Technologists in nuclear medicine OR certified and in good standing with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). EXAMINATIONS: ARRT National Board Exam. APPLICATION AND FEES: $60 for first license, $5 for each additional area.
