GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The person who holds a limited livestock license may auction only livestock at fixed based livestock yards operating under the control and guidance of the United States of America pursuant to the Federal Packers and Stockyards Act. These people are exempt from continuing education requirements. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS The applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Must have high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Application & forms must be received from the Board office and must be completed and returned at least 21 days prior to exam date. Fee is $100.00. Exam offered every February, May, August, and November. Applicant must attain a score of sixty to pass exam. If applicant fails exam a new application must be completed and again pay the testing fee. Exam is offered in Louisville, KY only. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years old. Initial license fee is $50.00 for the license and $30.00 for the Auctioneer's Education Research and Recovery Fund for a total of $80.00. Licenses renewed every June 30th. License renewal fee is $60.00 ($50.00 for the renewal license fee and $10.00 for the recovery fund fee). No apprenticeship experience is required. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS Examination consists of a three and one-half hour written test. Applicant is graded on General knowledge and Mathematics. Applicant is also graded on an oral presentation before the Board. Passing grade is sixty (60).
