License: Engineer Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION: An intern engineer works under the supervision of a professional engineer to develop and design efficient and economical machinery, equipment, products, and electrical and waste systems. After a four- or six-year engineering or related college degree, the intern gains experience in planning and coordinating project development. This may include developing detailed drawings, conducing related research, consulting clients, and evaluating ideas and designs. The intern may choose to specialize in one of the 25 major areas of engineering such as civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, or chemical engineering. Employment is based upon area of specialization, and interns are often employed in consulting, communication, transportation, and manufacturing industries.
