Marriage and family therapists (LMFT) render professional therapy services to individuals, families, or married couples, singly or in groups, and involves the professional application of family systems, theories and techniques in the delivery of therapy services to those persons. The practice includes the evaluation and remediation of cognitive, affective, behavioral, or relational dysfunction within the context of marriage and family systems. They do not prescribe drugs or treat medical disorders. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists Associate (LMFTA) means an individual who offers to provide marriage and family therapy for compensation under the supervision of a board-approved supervisor.
