FIRST-LINE SUPERVISORS OF CONSTRUCTION TRADES AND EXTRACTION WORKERS SOC Code 47-1011 Entry Salary $26.16/hr Average Salary $35.99/hr Job Description Mine Foremen coordinate the activities of employees at all underground and surface mining operations. The surface certification is optional at this time. Requirements 1.Must be 23 years of age. 2.Must hold an examiners certification if he or she desires to be certified in a gassy underground mine. 3.Must have three years experience, of a hands on nature, in the type of mine that he or she desires to hold a certificate. A mine engineering degree will count for one year of experience. 4.Must pass a written and oral examination. 5.Must be trained in the particular mineral. Restrictions None. School Located in Wyoming Review classes are held each year, prior to the examination, at Northern Wyoming Community College District at Gillette and Western Wyoming College, Green River Campus. Contact those schools for times. License The Wyoming Mining Council (Department of Workforce Services) issues competency certificates to mine foremen. Examination The examination is held each May in Rock Springs and Gillette.
