The Association of Boards of Certification (ABC), Water Treatment Operator - Class I is the entry-level water treatment operator certification. Water Treatment Operators - Class I monitor, evaluate and adjust water treatment processes, conduct laboratory analysis, comply with drinking water regulations, operate and maintain equipment, perform security, safety, and administrative procedures, and evaluate characteristics of source water. Candidates must pass an exam. Candidates who are currently certified by another equivalent certification program and have taken and passed the certification exam may qualify for certification through reciprocity.
