Professional doulas play a crucial role in providing emotional, physical, and informational support during childbirth and throughout life. To ensure ethical standards, guidelines must be established for their services. With a certification and recertification process in place, the NDCB aims to set the standard for the qualifications of certified professional doulas as well as the continued quality of service throughout their careers through recertification and continued learning.
