The Certified Professional Coder in Dermatology exam was developed by a team of leading dermatology coding professionals in conjunction with the Association of Dermatology Administrators/Managers (ADA/M).
Those coders with sufficient experience and expertise in dermatology coding are encouraged to sit for the CPCD exam.

The certification corresponds to a specialty within a recognized occupation. For example, Oncology Nurse and Pediatric Nurse are specialties within the nursing field, so Certified Oncology Nurse and Certified Pediatric Nurse would be classified as specialty certifications.
