A limited lines automobile insurance agent is a person authorized to transact automobile insurance, as defined in California Insurance Code section 660 . Qualifications - Minimum Age: 18 years - Residency: California residency is not required - - Prelicensing Experience/Education: A minimum of 20 hours of approved prelicensing study and 12 hours of approved prelicensing study on ethics and the California Insurance Code - Entity: Individual and Business Entity Fees: - Application: $188 - Renewal: $188 each two-year term - Fingerprint processing: The fee at the California Department of Insurance (CDI) test centers is $59. The fee at PSI test centers is $68.95.
